Suno makes a Spotify catalogue's worth of music every two weeks
The deforestation of music began in 2025.
Suno generates around seven million songs a day, according to investor documents reported by Billboard. At that rate it matches Spotify's entire catalogue roughly every two weeks.
Suno was not first. AI composition dates back to the 1980s, and AIVA, Amper and Boomy sold generated music years before Suno launched. What Suno did first was turn a single text prompt into a complete song, with vocals, lyrics and arrangement, for a mass consumer audience.
In June it raised over $400 million at a $5.4 billion valuation, Music Business Worldwide reports. It passed two million paying subscribers in February and is on pace for $300 million in annual revenue.
The field splits three ways: consumer song generators (Udio, Mureka, Sonauto), instrumental and scoring tools (Stable Audio, AIVA, Soundraw, Mubert), and the large labs (Google DeepMind's Lyria, Meta's MusicGen).
Suno settled with Warner Music Group in 2025. Universal and Sony are still suing.
